Reboot Academy
Getting a job with a criminal record isn't just about having the right skills. It's about knowing how to talk about your past, building the confidence to walk into an interview, and having the resilience to keep going when it's hard.
What Is Reboot Academy?
Reboot Academy is Reboot Australia’s telehealth employment program for people with a criminal record who are actively looking for work — or getting ready to.
It’s delivered 1:1 so there is no generic advice. No programs that treat everyone the same. Each session is built around the individual, their record, their situation, their goals.
How It Works
Every Reboot Academy session is co-delivered by a qualified Allied Health Practitioner and a lived experience mentor. That combination is deliberate.
The Allied Health Practitioner brings the clinical skill -the frameworks, the evidence-based tools, the ability to hold a structured conversation about difficult topics without it falling apart. The lived experience mentor brings something different: credibility. They’ve been where the participant is. They know what it feels like to sit across from an employer and not know what to say. They know what it took to rebuild.
Together, they create a session that is both practically rigorous and genuinely human. That’s not something you can get from either one alone.
Each session opens with a personal introduction from the team, an honest check-in, and a clear explanation of how the session works and what it’s for. It shouldn’t feel like an interview or a case management appointment. It should feel like a conversation with people who are actually in your corner.

Who Is Reboot Academy For?
For Individuals
Reboot Academy is for anyone who is post-release and finding that their criminal record is getting in the way of securing work -whether that’s because they don’t know how to talk about it, because the job search feels overwhelming, or because they’ve had knockbacks and don’t know what to do differently.
For Providers
It is also for Workforce Australia providers looking for a professional, evidence-informed service to refer job seekers with criminal records to -a service that actually addresses the specific barriers this cohort faces, rather than a generic employment readiness program that wasn’t built with them in mind.
