Why hire through Reboot
A workforce hiding in plain sight
Employers are short of people, and a large, motivated workforce is overlooked because of a record.
About 1.5 million
Australian adults, about 1 in 14, would show a court outcome on a national police check today.
How we estimate this
451,045 guilty outcomes a year, times the 10 years most convictions stay disclosable, divided by 3 outcomes per person in that time (our assumption), against 21,790,000 adults.
ABS, Criminal Courts, Australia, 2024-25
ABS, National, state and territory population (aged 18 and over), 30 June 2025
And employers need people
45%
of employers who are hiring say they are having difficulty recruiting
Jobs and Skills Australia, Recruitment Experiences and Outlook Survey, August 2026
31%
of advertised vacancies go unfilled (a national fill rate of 69.1%)
Jobs and Skills Australia, Employer Activity Insights, June quarter 2026
Work is what keeps people out of prison
72%
of people leaving prison had no paid work organised for after release
AIHW, The health of people in Australia's prisons 2025, 2025, Queensland not included
44.5%
of people released from a prison sentence were back in prison within two years
Productivity Commission, Report on Government Services 2026, released in 2022-23
About two-thirds
of people returning to prison were unemployed at the time they offended
1.3 million
US military enlistees studied: those with a felony record were promoted faster, and were no more likely to be discharged for poor performance.
Our services
What we offer
Four ways to bring people into your workforce, each with throughcare built in.
Labour hire
Reboot employs the worker. You get the person and the support, without the risk up front.
Try the working relationship before you commit. Our mentors stay alongside the worker, and you can employ them directly whenever you are ready.
Direct recruitment
Hire into your own team a candidate who is screened, prepared and supported.
We source, screen, interview and check references. Once they start on your payroll, we keep checking in with them and with you.
Monthly mentoring
You hire directly. We support the person through their first six months.
Up to nine hours a month of one-on-one support, with a progress update to you after each session. No recruitment fee.
Co-designed traineeships
Built around your workforce plan, from selection to people on site.
We select candidates in prison or the community, arrange the training (Workforce Australia funding can cover employer-specific training) and support them on site.
What it means for your business
Motivated people
Someone who has been given a real chance tends to keep it. Every worker arrives screened, prepared and with a support person behind them.
Wage subsidies
Many of our workers are with a Workforce Australia provider, so a hire may attract a wage subsidy of up to $10,000. We check with the provider before they start.
Social procurement
Reboot is a certified social enterprise. Spend with certified social enterprises is recognised in government procurement in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.
Impact you can report
Hours worked, people employed and outcomes achieved, ready for your ESG reporting and your next tender response.
Placement terms in brief
- Applies to anyone you engage within 12 months of our introducing them.
- Converting a labour-hire worker: the full fee up to 520 paid hours, half up to 1,040, nothing after that.
- If they leave within 3 months (other than through redundancy, restructure or a material change to the role) and you tell us in writing within 7 days, we source one replacement at no additional fee. A replacement, not a refund.
- Full terms: clause 2.2 of our Trading Terms and Conditions.

How we fill your role
Got a role to fill? This is what happens next, whether you choose labour hire or direct recruitment.
- 1
You send us the role
The role, the site, the tickets, the pay rate and the start date. A ten-minute call or an email is enough.
- 2
We shortlist 422 ready now
We search our job-ready people by tickets, experience and distance to your site, and interview every person one-on-one before you see a name. You get a short profile and a Reboot resume for each.
- 3
You meet them
On site or online. We book the interview, text the candidate the time, the address and a map, and confirm they are coming.
- 4
We mobilise them
Tickets and ID checked, PPE, transport and induction sorted, and a first-day text so nobody gets lost at the gate. On labour hire, the contract, pay, super and workers compensation are ours.
- 5
We stay with them
Regular check-ins with your worker and your supervisor, digital timesheets your supervisor approves from their phone, and one number to call.
Behind the scenes we carry what a supervisor never sees, so your worker turns up ready to work:
- Housing
- Transport
- Parole
- Centrelink
- Health
- ID and licences
- Life admin

Reboot Australia acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands on which we live and work, and their continuing connection to land, waters and community. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people we work alongside.
- Live figures are read from the Reboot platform when this page is opened, and are at most ten minutes old. A figure that cannot be read is left out, never shown as zero, and counts under 25 people are not shown.
- Our reoffending rate is our own count: of the people we have placed into work, the share who returned to prison within two years, the same measure as the national rate beside it.
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander shares are counted from how people identify when they register. Anyone who has not answered counts as not identifying, so the shares are floors.
