Find work with a record
Reboot Australia helps people with a record get into work and stay in it. No judgement, and support from people who have been where you are.
A record doesn't have to close the door
Reboot is a social enterprise that exists to help people with a record into steady work. We work with employers across Australia who want to give people a fair go, and we stay with you from the first conversation to well after you start.
Your first conversation is with one of our lived experience supports: someone who knows the justice system from the inside, knows what it is like to sit in an interview waiting for the question, and knows how much a job changes things.
How it works
Register
Fill in the registration form or call us on 0468 001 323. You can refer yourself, or be referred by correctional services or a community organisation.
Talk it through
One of our lived experience supports meets you by phone or Microsoft Teams to talk about your goals, your background, anything that is getting in the way and what you are good at. Everything you tell us is confidential.
Get matched
Based on your skills, interests and where you live, we connect you with work or training that suits you. We update your resume with you and help you work out how to talk about your past with an employer.
Keep going once you start
Our support does not stop when you start. We stay alongside you and your employer so the job works out, with a mentor who has lived experience checking in through your first 90 days.
The work we place people in
Construction, mining, logistics and transport, warehousing and distribution, manufacturing, hospitality, landscaping and civil works, in every state and territory. Some roles are labour hire, where Reboot is your employer and you work on a client’s site; others are permanent jobs straight with the employer.
See what is open right now on our job board. If nothing fits today, register anyway, so we can call you when something does.
Still in prison, or getting out soon? Our prison and community programs start the work before release. Working with a Workforce Australia provider? Ask them about Reboot Academy. And if things are hard right now, there are people you can talk to today on our get support page.
Questions people ask us
Can I get a job in Australia if I have a record?
Yes. Plenty of employers hire people with a record, and Reboot exists to connect you with them. Not every job needs a police check, and where one does, what often matters is whether the offence is relevant to the role. We help you find work where your record is not the thing that decides it, and we help you talk about it when it comes up.
Does it cost anything to register with Reboot?
No. Registering is free, and having a record does not count against you here. It is the reason we exist.
What kind of jobs can I get?
We place people in construction, mining, logistics and transport, warehousing and distribution, manufacturing, hospitality, landscaping and civil works, across every state and territory. Some roles are labour hire, where Reboot is your employer and you work on a client's site. Others are permanent jobs straight with the employer.
I don't have a resume. Is that a problem?
No. We put one together with you, and help you explain gaps and your past in a way that works for you.
I'm still in prison. Can Reboot help?
Yes. We run programs inside prisons and in the community, and we take referrals from correctional services, so the work can start before your release.
Where is Reboot? Do I need to come into an office?
Our offices are in Vasse, WA and Richmond, VIC, and we place people right across Australia. Your first interview is by phone or Microsoft Teams, so where you live is not a barrier.
