About the Role

A Social Impact Advisor supports the delivery of John Holland’s social impact priorities and abides by the relevant legislative and contractual requirements. The role focuses on the day to day implementation, coordination and monitoring of activities that contribute to measurable social outcomes across projects and operations. Working closely with internal teams and external partners, a Social Impact Advisor provides practical support to project teams, including monitoring, reporting and helping translate pre-contract commitments into tangible project outcomes. Position specific tasks or responsibilities ­ In precontracts and project delivery, partner with Commercial and project teams to support procurement planning and ensure First Nations businesses, social enterprises and other social benefit suppliers are considered in procurement processes. ­ In precontracts and project delivery work with project leaders to understand workforce and resourcing requirements and identify entry level and pathway opportunities for underrepresented and marginalised cohorts. ­ In precontracts and project delivery Support compliance with regulatory, legislative and project specific social procurement commitments across allocated projects. ­ Monitor subcontractor compliance with contractual commitments and escalate risks, issues and opportunities for performance improvement where required. ­ In collaboration with project teams, assist in the design and coordination of pre-employment programs and transition to employment pathways. ­ Build and maintain relationships across projects, social benefit suppliers and community partners to support employment and social procurement outcomes. ­ Support pathways linking projects with supplier-led recruitment, onboarding and post-placement retention, including development and career progression opportunities. ­ Support project wide engagement and capability uplift to assist delivery of social procurement, workforce participation and inclusion targets. ­ Coordinate with monitoring, recording and reporting of performance against KPIs, contractual obligations and compliance requirements. ­ Promote inclusive and culturally safe workplaces, including building team understanding of priority cohorts such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, CALD communities, Veterans, justice impacted individuals, people with disability and LGBTI+ communities. ­ Support and guide frontline leaders to embed social impact commitments into project delivery. ­ Support in the delivery of training and capability building initiatives aligned to social inclusion, workforce participation and contractual commitments. ­ Contribute to post-placement support approaches to improve retention and identify training and capacity-building opportunities that enable career progression. ­ Support delivery of relevant project induction content and other training and development opportunities related to social impact, inclusion and social procurement.

Key Responsibilities

  • ­ Facilitate in the implementation of social procurement strategies aligned with contractual commitments and John Holland’s broader strategic objectives.
  • ­ Support project compliance with regulatory, legislative and contractual social procurement commitments and escalate issues where corrective action may be required.
  • ­ Contribute social impact input into tender and bid processes, including supporting responses and strengthening John Holland’s competitive positioning.
  • ­ Support initiatives that enable projects and regions to achieve social procurement, workforce participation and inclusion targets.
  • ­ Coordinate in the delivery of diversity, inclusion and social impact programs, while supporting business units and project teams to embed priorities and practices.
  • ­ Build and maintain relationships with social benefit suppliers, community partners and key internal stakeholders to support social impact outcomes.
  • ­ Facilitate capability building with project teams through coaching, training and guidance to embed social procurement and inclusion into project delivery.
  • ­ Contribute to collaboration across state and functional teams to share insights, align approaches and support continuous improvement.
  • ­ Coordinate performance monitoring, reporting and communication, including KPI reporting, strategic insights and leadership updates.
  • ­ Provide support on sustainability frameworks where social procurement requirements apply, including ISCA and Green Star.
  • ­ Promote culturally safe and inclusive practices, including supporting cultural awareness initiatives and contributing to key cultural events such as NAIDOC Week and Reconciliation Week.
  • ­ Take accountability for own development, including keeping up to date professionally regarding relevant practices where appropriate, and demonstrate a personal commitment to the HSEQ foundations and culture.

Requirements

  • ­ Higher School Certificate (HSC/VCE)
  • ­ Certificate II, III or IV in Business Administration
  • ­ 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role developing and implementing social procurement requirements in an operational environment
  • ­ Awareness of regulatory, legislative, and project-specific social procurement and local content frameworks
  • ­ Strong ability to build networks and relationships
  • ­ Ability to deliver training packages
  • ­ Knowledge of document management processes and systems for record management
  • ­ Capability to perform routine administration with a high level of attention to detail
  • ­ Problem-solving and communication skills
  • ­ Exposure to engineering, construction, manufacturing or similar industry
