Machine Operator

About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and hands-on Machine Operator to join a busy steel manufacturing operation based in Bayswater, VIC. This is a labour hire role working within a well-established production environment where attention to detail, safety awareness, and a solid work ethic are non-negotiable. If you're comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial setting and take pride in doing the job right, we want to hear from you. You'll be working as part of a tight-knit team responsible for operating and monitoring machinery used in the production and processing of steel products. The work is hands-on and physical, and no two shifts are exactly the same — you'll need to stay focused and adapt quickly to production demands. Key Responsibilities

• Operate steel manufacturing machinery and production equipment safely and efficiently
• Monitor equipment during operation and report any faults, defects, or irregularities to supervisors
• Carry out basic machine setup, adjustments, and changeovers as required
• Conduct pre-start checks and routine maintenance on machinery
• Follow production schedules and meet output targets without compromising quality
• Handle raw materials and finished steel products safely using correct manual handling techniques
• Maintain a clean and organised work area in line with site housekeeping standards
• Comply with all WHS policies, site procedures, and PPE requirements at all times

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience operating machinery in a manufacturing, steel, or heavy industrial environment(Essential)
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug & alcohol screen(Essential)
• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices in an industrial setting(Essential)
• Forklift licence (LF) — required for some duties on site(Essential)
• Experience in steel manufacturing, fabrication, or metals processing
• Ability to read basic production documentation, job sheets, or work orders
